Happy New Year! My hope is that we all put ourselves, and our health first in this upcoming year. From the high density foods we eat to scheduling regular massages/bodywork. I've added a few continued Ed classes to my tool box within the last two months. One of them is cupping! Thanks to Michael Phelps, most of you are now familiar with this very ancient technique of healing. Cupping draws out the wind, or/and the colds out of our body! removes waste and toxins, pulls up fascia and creates spaces for our nerves. I have found cupping to be effective with trigger point releases, and using it combined with contract relax for a deeper release of the muscle and surrounding tissues. Sometimes pushing isn't enough, sometimes it is the pulling that can really bring a treatment together for best results. COme try a treatment and see for yourself! In a recent client case who came in with neck, shoulder and back pain and highly sensitive. We decided to try the Soma cupping, which is more gentle than the traditional glass fire cupping, in part because the cups are made of silicon and have the ability of movement, which gives more control over the suction. Rotational forces can be introduced to the fascial web, that hands on pushing therapy cannot duplicate. Cupping really helps with trigger points.Once I palpate and locate such areas, applying a cup offers extensive relief. The soma cupping can lift and separate tissues off of each other.
